Chartered 2024 · World's First Cause-Based Rotaract Club for Children's Eye Care

Rotaract Club of World
Without Childhood Blindness

Young Changemakers. One Global Cause. A World Where Every Child Can See.

A World Without Childhood Blindness Begins With Young Changemakers

Every child deserves the gift of sight.

The Rotaract Club of World Without Childhood Blindness (RCWWCB) brings together young Rotaractors who believe preventing avoidable childhood blindness is a global development imperative. It is a youth-led, cause-based club dedicated to children’s eye health.

A Club Built Around a Cause

More Than a Rotaract Club. A Movement for Sight.

Traditional service projects respond to individual community needs. RCWWCB is cause-driven:
school eye screening, awareness, support for premature babies at risk of ROP, spectacles, referrals and community mobilisation.

Why children's eye health?

Because sight shapes a child's future.
Learning → Confidence → Development → Opportunity → Future
Millions of children live with preventable or treatable vision problems. Early screening can mean the difference between sight and irreversible blindness.
Our Vision

A world where no child loses the opportunity to see, learn and dream because of avoidable blindness.

Our Mission

To mobilise young people, Rotary networks, eye-care professionals, schools, communities, institutions and partners to advance children's eye health through awareness, screening, early identification, referral, treatment and advocacy.

Our 5-Pillar Approach

How we work

01

Screen

Take children's eye screening closer to schools and communities.

02

Create Awareness

Build awareness among children, parents, teachers and communities.

03

Prevent

Support early identification of conditions that threaten vision.

04

Connect to Care

Help children reach appropriate eye-care services.

05

Advocate

Create a global youth voice for World Without Childhood Blindness.

From Youth Service to Global Impact

Young people can change the story of childhood blindness.

Rotaractors should not merely participate in service, they should lead causes.
RCWWCB builds an ecosystem that connects young people to the children who need sight.
Our Journey

One cause. One generation. One global movement.

2024: A new idea takes root.

The club is chartered as a youth-led platform for children's eye health.

The ROP Connection

Protecting the sight of the tiniest lives.

Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is a potentially blinding condition affecting premature babies. RCWWCB supports awareness and mobilisation around:
Early identification → Timely screening → Expert referral → Treatment → Saving sight
For a premature baby, time can determine whether sight is saved.
Youth Leadership

The next generation of vision champions

And most importantly, the courage to believe that change is possible. Social impact is not something young leaders inherit. It is something they create.
Our Big Idea

January 31: A Day for Sight

The club supports establishing January 31 as the International Day for World Without Childhood Blindness (IDWWCB), linking Dr. V. K. Raju’s eye-care journey that began on January 31, 1977 with a global movement for children.

A message to every young Rotaractor

You don't have to be an ophthalmologist to fight childhood blindness. You can be a communicator, fundraiser, volunteer, technology enthusiast, community organiser, student or leader. You just need to care enough to act.

One child. One screening. One pair of eyes. One future.
